THEME: Pet Peeves
THOUGHTS: Not to get all Anne Shirley on you, but February is what I like to think of as an annual, month-long Depths of Despair. It's dark, it's not going to be spring for a long time, everyone is cranky and cold, it's a great time to listen to "How Soon is Now" by the Smiths, etc. One thing I DO like about February is complaining about things that annoy me, which is why I picked this as a theme.

THEME: Furniture
THOUGHTS: Sarah would like you to know that she decided to draw furniture she remembers from her childhood. (And it's her fault this post is late, she was busy having fun in Canada!)

Things We Love Thursday -- Marissa
Meat Sections is a genius art-of-the-day blog which, by its own description, "involves drawing (and perhaps the occasional photo) of butchery-style diagrams, of not just the standard pig, cow, lamb, and other edible creatures, but odder items as well." It's made by a lady named Alyson who lives in San Francisco, and I think it's brilliant. But I also really like meat and meat diagrams.
Shaun White, aka The Flying Tomato, is probably going to inspire a lot of drawing on my part as he returns to the Winter Olympics next week. Between his bold appearance, bold moves, and the fact that he's frequently airborne, this dude makes me want to draw a whole fleet of flying snowboarders in my sketchbook. I used to draw a ton of extreme sports back in the day; maybe it's time to get back to that?

THEME: Imaginary Cities
THOUGHTS: Marissa wants you to know that the tickets and other ephemera in her drawings come from the streets of Boston, and the names of places come from a map used as the end sheets of her sketchbook. She does not really want to know where they are, but presumes they are somewhere in Scandinavia.
PICKED BY: Jon, friend of Sarah and professional busy person.
